Most Beautiful Kayaking Spot in Florida: Silver Springs State Park

As one of Americaโ€™s largest springs, Silver Springs in Florida has crystal clear water, an interesting ecosystem of rivers and channels, and a huge variety of plants and wildlife. In our opinion, Silver Springs is also one of the most beautiful places for kayaking in Florida. There is nothing like paddling on lazy teal water, cradling in between huge canopies of trees. And if youโ€™re lucky, you can spot monkeys or manatees as you cruise through the beautiful Silver River.

  1. My spouse and I were highly discouraged to witness so many kayakers on Silver River in Florida that did not know to stay to the right with an oncoming boat headed toward them. . We had many blocking our way. We were in a motor boat – a small flat boat and we were idling the whole way (which is a rule on the entire 5 miles of Silver River). This made it extremely difficult for my spouse to maneuver this skinny river. I wish people would look up rules of being on the water and know it’s not just a free for all. This would have been a better time if these kayakers (not all of them) would have followed the rules of the water ways. To be fair though, we also encountered a couple of small motor boats that were not playing by the rules either on occasion – one was not idling as you are supposed to on Silver River. We love going out on kayaks and our canoe so we understand the joy of it. Occasionally, we also have to use our flat boat for photography purposes and for fishing when on other rivers. There’s always rules to follow when out on the water, regardless of what type of boat you are in, to make the day enjoyable for all concerned.
